Can't-Miss Fall Events in Atlanta This Season

Fall in Atlanta has a rhythm of its own. Cooler mornings roll in, porch lights come back on, and the weather finally feels right for an outdoor festival. If you're looking for fall events in Atlanta this year, some of the best of them are just a short drive away from our Cabbagetown apartments.

Here are five events you need to include on your calendar, happening between late September and late October, each an easy drive or bike ride from Fulton Cotton Mill. 

September Highlights Near Cabbagetown

September brings two events near Cabbagetown that celebrate art and history.

Head to Historic Fourth Ward Park for the Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival, running September 26 and 27. Around 100 artists set up booths along the Beltline for painting, ceramics, and jewelry, while live acoustic music carries across the lawn. Bring cash for a food truck lunch and plan to stay a while so you don’t miss out on the shows and tasty food.

Just up the road, Sunday in the Park at Oakland Cemetery turns Atlanta's oldest burial ground into a Victorian-style celebration on September 27. Expect live bands, a costume contest, guided tours, and an artist market. It's an unusual venue for a festival, and that's exactly the appeal.

October Festivals to Enjoy Food, Drink, and Music

October brings three more Atlanta fall festivals, each with its own personality.

Candler Park Fall Fest celebrates its 25th year on October 3 and 4, with live music, an artist market, and food vendors filling the park. It's free to attend, and every dollar raised goes back into the park, so you can enjoy the event while supporting this natural venue.

For something spookier, the Little Five Points Halloween Festival and Parade takes over Moreland Avenue on October 17 and 18. With more than 100 art vendors, live bands, and a costume parade, this event is ranked among the best Halloween celebrations in the country and is definitely worth checking out. Get there early for a good spot along the route.

Close out the season at the Inman Park Wine Stroll on October 24, when historic front porches turn into wine-tasting stops for the afternoon. Live music and local art fill the tree-lined streets between pours for all the wine lovers around. Tickets sell out most years, so plan ahead and get yours soon if you don’t want to miss it.
